A home and studio for a painter.

Ligno Studio House belongs to a painter, so work and home were never going to live in separate boxes. We used daylight, timber and a series of soft thresholds to let creative work stay close without taking over daily life.

Daylight connects home and studio.

We placed the work surfaces and openings according to how daylight moves across the house. The studio can close down when concentration is needed, yet a glance toward the living spaces keeps it from feeling isolated.

The studio stays close to daily life without taking it over.

Doors, openings and material changes make it clear when the studio begins, without cutting it off from the rest of the home.

Natural timber gives the house warmth, pale mineral surfaces return daylight and quieter textures help the studio settle when work begins.
